When you learn something new and useful, something that will help you in the years to come - something someone tells you - advice, a story, a lesson, a moral - embed it forever in your mind. Learn it thoroughly. Don't let mundane distractions of daily pointlessness waste it away.
One of my many weaknesses is distraction. And lack of focus.
(Reading Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. Still. And this thought struck me midway through my reading, a minute ago. My heroine is remembering in a dream everything that her dead father taught her. And some things which, I think, are going to save her life more than once. Good book, btw.)

Ever or now
Obsessions. Infatuations.
Some come and go. Some stay. Some fade away and dim out. And some can't. Some you've forgotten already. And some you never will.
Childhood dreams. Ambitions.
Film stars. Movies.
Games. Sports. Toys.
Favourite chocolates and raincoats.
School teachers. Mysterious strangers whose faces you can't forget.
Favourite colours. Favourite earrings. Favourite shoe laces.
Websites. Social networking.
Books. Fairy tales. Imaginary friends.
Addictions. Madness.
Temporary.
Or permanent.
Favourite songs. And finally, eternal parts of your life.
Like .. Bohemian Rhapsody. I know I'll never stop loving the song. Or Jim Morrison. Give me ten years, twenty. It's an eternal love.
What I like best is when these reside in some dim corner of your mind and memory and are suddenly awakened by something - a trigger of your senses - a smell, a sight, a sound... anything. Those are the eternal loves. And magical nights, with rain and wind and a some moonlight, spark them all up. Like tonight.

2+2=4
Two nice things about today:
1. Crazily busy day. Had no time to breathe.
2. One thing that really thrilled me - receiving new music, emailed by dear friends.
Two nice things about tonight:
1. Incredibly magical weather. Vodka and tonic. Open air dinner while watching the clouds float past in supersonic speed, and being retarded.
2. I can hear my flatmate snoring. Loud and clear. Quite entertaining. For about 13 seconds.
Goodnightanyway.

To Do: Schedule an outage to Bombay
It's 2:00am and for the past two hours I've proven the point I just made about this blog being a 'record' space and I went back to read my archives. All of my Bombay Dairies series, wow, such a nice month that was, and until today's post.
I really, really am missing home so much - and I have unconsciously taken on a lifestyle that I had in my fake-junkie days back home. Sleeping at 2:00am, skipping lunch, passing out with the lights on and music playing. In fact, today while I was sitting and staring at a busy street from McDonalds, I was thinking about Bombay, for a brief moment, I almost thought I was in Bombay.
It felt very strange and has never happened before. It felt like deja vu, but not quite.
I really do need to go back for a dose of Bombay-love.

Touch Wood
I haven't attended too many weddings where the groom / bride have been really close friends. I think I can only count 3 weddings. And the one that affected me the most was Mel's.
I was looking at photographs right now, and I remembered. It's been more than a year. A year since the eventful incidents that led up to the wedding, and after. I shopped like mad for my dresses. By far the most expensive outfits I've ever bought. I took a week off to be in Bombay a few days before the wedding. For all the excitement and furor. Reveled in the pampering that spilled over from the ample aunts and uncles crowding Mel's house. And the teeth machine, as we called Mel's dog in those days, Brownie, got crazier as the excitement grew. I became his 'teething / nibbling toy' without volunteering to have my arms ripped off by his nibbling.
Anyway, the whole point of this downthememorylane post is to remember (and document*) what the priest said at the Church wedding. He said that this wedding was not only between Mel and Sim, but everyone present in the church, and that we were all part of the marriage between them. And that we were responsible for the marriage as much as them. Our love and blessings and good wishes would be what bound them together. And that, to me, was priceless.
It's special and precious to share that - with such beloved friends.
Ah, I'm only homesick. Excuse the sentimentality.
PS: I think my blog, more than really reflecting my life, is more of a space where I document and record random thoughts that flit by, and those thoughts if I don't put them down immediately, vanish into thin smoke.
Just like this morning when I woke up, I knew that a super-realistic dream had been interrupted by my alarm. A really good dream, I just knew it. But as I thought that thought, the dream and any vague thread of it slipped away, like disappearing smoke, and was gone. I couldn't even slightly remember what it was about or anything. So sad. So unfair. So annoying. Why can't my dreams belong to me?
PPS: I'm superstitious.

The Dark Knight
Before I say how super*much I loved the movie, am going to say - the IMAX experience, oh my God. The best movie experience in the world.
And combine that with a really kick-ass Batman movie - it doesn't get any better. The highlight of the movie, by far, was the absolutely terrific performance by Heath Ledger as The Joker.
Anyway, I only have this to say - "Go watch it."

Ze Weekend is swiftly passing
Recent posts on this blog can be attributed to alcohol consumption and malfunction of hormones. Definitely not something to be proud about. But it's ok. Alcohol consumption when you're 22 is acceptable. I will be responsible when the time demands it. And, as for the hormonal malfunction - such is fate.
Anyway, today was an interesting mix of disaster and good times. The disaster was that I was at work all day. On a Saturday. Without breakfast or lunch and only a fistful of biscuits and snacks to keep me going.
However.
At 6:30 pm, Daya Singh called me and said there was a gig tonight. Pub Rock Fest - a festival at which Split has played last year, and I was sure it would be a good gig. And anyway, it had been so so so long since I saw live music, I just had to go. The alcohol consumption was continued, hence this post.
Band 1:
Native Tongue. Hyderabadi 3 piece band. Heavily influenced by the grunge kings - Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana. I was fairly impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the show. They played all originals, except for one. And each original was tight, well constructed, and instantly catchy. I was loving it. And the highlight was when they played the song that has been on my must-listen-to-everyday-list for a couple of months now. Foo Fighter's The Pretender. !!#! Not a perfect cover, but just the song was enough to thrill me.
Band 2:
Lounge Piranha. I'd seen these guys' website a few months ago, and was quite impressed. So, I'd been really waiting for a chance to see these guys live - they're from Bangalore. The first song they played this evening, was a Tool cover, and they had a guest who played the didgeridoo. Amazing. Not a sight you see often in Hyderabad. Or Bombay, for that matter. Very awesome.
*
I just had a 5 hour long nap since I wrote that. Passed out flat - sleeping on my iron, a book, and a phone charger.
I don't feel like writing anymore. Happy Sunday.

Heart ache so strong that I can cry
For the first time in my life, tonight, I felt the power of something I wrote a long time ago, affect someone - and affect them so much, that it made me cry.
Emotions. If translated into words - which sometimes can't do justice - but have a power you cannot imagine. Or control. Even if you think you can, or want to. It's way too strong.
What I felt that night when I wrote this, I couldn't contain. I couldn't hold. It just had to spill out of my soul into the forever of the universe. What I felt that night - is out there. Inside. Outside. Somewhere.

Wanted. Take 2.
I saw Wanted. Again. Exactly one day after the first time.
Very nice, and very lucky. It's not such a great movie - but something about it makes me want to get up and jump. And be thrilled.
Oh, and I was accused of gaping at Angelina Jolie. I will not deny the charge. Darn.

WANTED
I woke up this morning to a Pranav's invitation to watch a 11:00 am show of Wanted. I said, why not. But the plan didn't work out when we couldn't book tickets.
Two hours later, Sailusha invited me to watch a 1:15 pm show of the same movie. I said, why not. I was skeptical about getting tickets, when at 1:00pm we still hadn't booked them. But we got tickets easily and stuffed ourselves with junk from McDonalds and went upstairs into the multiplex for the Big IMAX experience.
I had no idea what the movie was about, I managed to hear the words Angelina Jolie, and assassins, when my friends were talking about it. Which seemed like it would be fun.
And boy, I haven't enjoyed an action movie this much in a long time. A new action movie. I really was in the right frame of mind (desperately needed entertainment) and some adrenaline was the perfect medicine.
Curving bullets, superhot cast, smoking action sequences, and a nice twist at the end, it was an unexpected treat for me.
I want to see this movie again. Oh yea.

Have you ever...
In my lifetime, I want to do something that no one has ever done before.
On a non-related note, what I am doing right now - I hope no body has to do. Ever.
Waiting on a month's worth of clothes to dry, and checking every minute to see if the wind has blown anything a thousand miles away.
