Thoughts

Need to get to bed earlier.
So many emails to reply to.
I am eager to prep for the Ayurveda consult with Anita.
This weekend is a full moon.
This weekend is a full moon women's healing circle with Sweetwater.
This Friday is a Michael Jackson music/dance show.
I have to prep for the Women of Color retreat next week.
I am facilitating the Rising Tide Meeting tomorrow.
I haven't talked to my parents enough.
Tomorrow is my best friend's wedding. She is in India. I am not by her side.
I really need to continue job hunting.
I hope that I get that job I interviewed for.
Do I want the other job I'm considering?
I might be thinking of someone far too much.
I need a massage so bad.
I should probably get health insurance for this year.
I wish I made more time to read.
I wish I spent more time outdoors.
It's cold and dark. But it doesn't affect me as much this year than it has before.
I'm busy, and satisfied.
I think I would be miserable if I wasn't a spiritual person.
There's no way I wouldn't be a spiritual person.
I have to find a way to bring spiritual activism to my community.
I am no longer as lonely as I used to be.
I am no longer afraid of being lonely.
I recognize that people are important and give me much joy but I am also ok being alone.
Life is good.
It is love. I am love.

Lessons from a terrible belly ache

I have a terrible belly ache. I looked back to see what could have caused it and then referenced my ayurveda textbooks. Here's my findings:
I ate a dosa (fermented rice-flour crepe) and ate it far too quickly, and I was slightly stressed, which made my stomach more sensitive. Then, I ate a handful of that Indian style sugar-covered fennel. Fennel, which is supposed to aid digestion, is rendered pretty useless by the candy-coating. However, it is very tasty (to me) and I ate too much. According to ayurveda, eating sweet after a sour or spicy meal can stop digestion. The food stays in the stomach, begins to ferment and causes burning and pain. Exactly what it feels like. I also suspect the dosa batter was not fresh. So a fermented food is now fermenting in my stomach. Ouch. The remedy: digestives to secrete the right enzymes to get the process going again. (Ginger is a great option)
Lessons learned, the challenge really is being mindful when eating, being slow, and not eating when stressed.
